L.A Noire Shows Its True Colours

‘Rockstar Games’ are renowned for their thrilling open-world RPG games on both sides of the law. For ‘L.A Noire’ they teamed up with ‘Team Bondi’ to bring a gaming masterpiece.

‘L.A Noire’ is a violent and gloomy crime thriller set in pre-war 1940s Los Angeles. It uses revolutionary animation technology which can clone people down to a pixel. It offers a wide range of activities from heart-pumping car chases and shootouts to complex interrogations and prosecutions.

Throughout ‘L.A Noire’ the characters within use believable speech that corresponds well with their roles. However, the randomly generated inhabitants that roam the streets of L.A do sometimes repeat their lines; in my opinion this is not an outstanding issue. Minor characters are effectively put to use in the form of witnesses and bystanders as they inform the gamer of vital information to move the story on.

In addition, ‘L.A Noire’ utilizes collectible items such as the newspapers which reveals to the player a hidden background tale. The use of this produces irony at certain points in the game to make the gamer wonder when they will unveil the disturbing secret in a city where everyone has something to hide.

Furthermore, the graphics in ‘L.A Noire’ almost mimic Los Angeles in the ‘Baby Boom’ era. Major landmarks in the city are brought to life from photographs into high definition three-dimensional buildings. On the other hand the driving mechanics behind the game could be improved. This is due to the vehicles’ handling being jerky and slightly unresponsive. Don’t worry though because ‘Rockstar’ added a feature where you can make your partner drive; he isn’t the best driver.

In conclusion, I would say that ‘L.A Noire’ is a big success and breakthrough in the gaming universe. I think the graphics are exceptional at the effect they give the game. In my opinion I would easily give this game a 9/10 if not full marks. ‘L.A Noire’ has exceeded all of my expectations; I would greatly recommend it. Full stop.
